Developers of the Star Trek MMO have created a memorial for recently deceased Spock actor Leonard Nimoy.
Developers of the massively multiplayer game for Mac and Windows, Star Trek Online, have erected a tribute to Leonard Nimoy in the game.
Engadget reports that Nimoy's recent passing inspired the developers to create tributes to Nimoy in locations in the game including the planets Vulcan, New Romulus and Earth.
What's more, STO developer Cryptic Studios has adorned the same locations with plaques honoring the actors that've embodied other Starfleet recruits including DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, Majell Barrett and series creator Gene Rodenberry. If it sounds similar to Robin Williams' immortalization in World of Warcraft, well, that's because it is and frankly we're happy to see it happen. No snarky closer here folks, it's a bit too soon for that.
Cryptic Studios' Star Trek Online is set in the 25th century, 30 years after the events depicted in the movie Star Trek: Nemesis (and on the same timeline, not the "rebooted" time line shown in the recent J.J. Abrams movies).
The game was launched on the Mac last year, and includes a free-to-play tier, so you can get started right away without having to pay anything.
