SoftBank CEO and Sprint chairman Masayoshi Son has announced a surprising new direction for his illustrious career: the field of humanoid robotics. At a press conference in Tokyo, Son revealed a human-like robot called Pepper that is capable of playing multiple roles from babysitter to store staff. Pepper introduced itself by bowing in the Japanese fashion before posing and encouraging the audience to take more photos.
A firmware update has made its way this evening from Palo Alto, Calif., to a Pebble smartwatch near you, and version 2.2 brings a couple of welcome improvements.
First up is that you can now rearrange apps in the launcher. Just highlight it, then hold down the select button (that's the one in the middle on the right), then move the item up or down. It's especially useful because now apps that you use frequently aren't buried at the bottom.
And almost as important is that you can now adjust the volume in the music app. Just hold down the select button, then choose either up or down to raise or lower the volume. It's quick, it's easy, and it's a nice addition. Also, the music app has gained a track progress bar and has some layout improvements.
The alarm has been tweaked as well, vibrating for up to 10 minutes, instead of just 60 seconds.
To get the firmware update, first be sure to update your iOS Pebble app. Then visit the support section of your Pebble smartphone app and choose Check for Update.
Also worth a mention is that the iOS Pebble app has added support for iBeacon, so your phone and Pebble will know when they're close to each other. Pebble says the GPS location isn't recorded, and it has a negligible impact on battery life.

Let's not freak out, guys. It's a kid and his dad having fun. The dad, who is in the band Atticus Avenue, uses his kid's back to play the drums and ends up creating some awesome sound effects and a fun drum beat because of the combination of squeaks, squeals and laughter coming from his kid.
If you were tuned into the Stanley Cup finals you may have caught the new ad Apple is running. Dubbed 'Strength' and set aside the Robert Preston's song 'Chicken Fat', the ad focuses on wearables and fitness apps available to use on iOS by showing folks using a number of them throughout the video.
From running with Nike+, to weighing yourself using a WiThings scale, to using the Misfit Shine Activity and Sleep Monitor, Apple hit a lot of areas and ways iOS can help you be fit. It didn't make me want to put down the big ol' bag of potato chips I was eating but that's just me.
With Apple's very own HealthKit now announced, I'm sure this won't be the last commercial we see using wearables and fitness trackers either but in the meantime, you can check out the full commercial above.
