Skrillex launches first full-length album 'Recess' as an easter egg in a mobile game
The spiritual leader of the unrelenting assault on the eardrums known as dubstep has emerged with his first full-length album, Recess, his biggest release since 2011's Bangarang EP. That's great news for ravers and Skrillex fans everywhere, but what makes it even more interesting is how he's bringing it out — as easter eggs inside a seemingly innocuous game in Google Play and the iTunes App Store called Alien Ride. The Asteroids-style title is described as a way to "realize your true potential [...] unlocking new features and shooting your way to a high score," but there's no mention of Skrillex, much less an all-new 11-track artist album. Playing through lets you unlock streams of all the tracks, and at the end you find a link to...

Court stops NSA from destroying call records relevant to ongoing lawsuit
A California district court has barred the National Security Agency from destroying old call records that may be relevant to an ongoing surveillance lawsuit. While the lawsuit aims to end the NSA's collection of call records — from AT&T customers in particular — the plaintiffs have actually filed and been granted a temporary restraining order that stops the government from destroying those call records after five years, as it normally would, while the court determines what records should be preserved as evidence for the trial. "It is undisputed that the Court would be unable to afford effective relief once the records are destroyed, and therefore the harm to Plaintiffs would be irreparable," District Judge Jeffrey White writes.

World's first Passive House-certified pet door unveiled at Ecobuild 2014
Of the many new gadgets to help you go green that were on offer at London's Ecobuild 2014 last week, one of the standout innovations was from Petwalk. The company's new, highly-insulated, automated pet door lets pets move in and out of the house at will, without squeezing through small openings or knocking on a plastic flap. It opens and closes electronically without being pushed open by a dog or cat, or by anyone else. Once closed, the doors form a draught-free seal that conforms to Passive House standards for thermal exclusion. Petwalk also offers a range of sophisticated extras. .. Odyssey's electric recumbent trike can reach speeds of 50 mph
The top motor-only speed of an electric bike can be limited by law to 20 mph (32 km/h), but those taking their rides off-road or to the streets of more lenient jurisdictions may push their vehicles that little bit further. Looking to allow even more scope for performance are Milwaukee-based inventors Dustin Herte and Ryan Bass, whose Odyssey electric trike, fitted with a 4 kW motor, can reach speeds of up to 50 mph (80 km/h). .. Jawbone Adds Android Support to UP24 Wristband
Jawbone's Up24 and Up app are available for Android today
Jawbone announced today that the Up24 band and its Up app are now available for Android. The Up24 is the most recent tracking band to come from the company, and its accompanying app has only ever been available on iOS. Now Android users will be able to purchase a band and sync it wirelessly via Bluetooth to their cellphones, allowing for real-time notifications and data storage. Until this point, Android users were a bit out of luck — the Up app is the primary way for users to get the most out of the Up24 band, because it lets users see all their current and past data at any time. The Up app is the core interface for its fitness tracking ecosystem, and there's no word on when the company's new partner app, Up Coffee, will be available...

Glenn Beck thinks Thomas Edison was a 'bad man'
Conservative pundit Glenn Beck is making a movie that he hopes will expose the truth about celebrated American inventor Thomas Edison. In a wide-ranging interview with the National Review , Beck said that although Edison is widely seen as "this nice, kind of, good old Thomas," his film will expose him for the person he really was: "a bad man who was electrocuting animals."
The Edison film is one of three movies that Beck is working on — another will tell "the real story of Christmas" — though it's not clear whether it will be a documentary or drama, and he did not name a release date in his interview with the National Review. What's clear, though, is that Beck thinks Edison has been unfairly represented in history, and he wants to...
