Leaker says AirPods Studio release may be pushed back as far as November
Apple's new over-the-ear headphones are coming, but the exact date is anyone's guess.
What you need to know
- A new leak says Apple will not finish mass production of its AirPods Studio headphones until October 20.
- This will put a possible announcement at the October 13 event in question.
- The announcement may be delayed until as late as November, according to Prosser.
Earlier this week it was reported that Apple has stopped selling third-party headphones in its online and retail stores, an indication that the company may unveil its rumored AirPods Studio headphones soon. However, a new leak indicates that the company may delay the announcement until as far out as November.
According to one of Jon Prosser's sources, Apple will not finish its mass production of AirPods Studio until October 20, a week after the company's upcoming "Hi, Speed" event. This could delay the release of the headphones until the end of October or the beginning of November.
"AirPods Studio mass production isn't complete until October 20th. I suppose they could still announce them at the October 13th event and ship them at the end of this month or beginning of next."
Prosser goes on to say that, because of this delay, Apple may go a number of routes as far as announcing the new headphones. It could be done at the October event, by press release, or even pushed to a rumored November event.
"This leaves it open for announcement during the October 13th iPhone event. It could also be possible that they're released via press release at the end of this month. Or pushed to the November event. Personally, I don't know which route they'll take for sure."

It could also be possible that they're released via press release at the end of this month.
Or pushed to the November event.
Personally, I don't know which route they'll take for sure.
Apple's "Hi, Speed" event is set to kick off on October 13 at 1:00 PM PT. The event is expected to feature the company's new iPhone 12 lineup as well as surprise announcements of the rumored AirPods Studio, HomePod mini, and AirTags.

Lanturn, a Singaporean tech-enabled corporate services provider, raises $3 million seed round
Running a small to medium-sized business means a small staff needs to juggle a plethora of tasks, like bookkeeping, tax records and regulatory filings. Singaporean startup Lanturn streamlines their workload with a combination of corporate services and an internal platform that helps automate administrative work. Lanturn announced today that it has raised a $3 million seed round led by East Ventures and CoCoon Ignite Ventures.
Spun out from Zave, a Singaporean management app (and another startup in East Ventures’ portfolio), two years ago, Lanturn now has almost 400 clients. It focuses on startups and SMEs, acting as a “one-stop online corporate services” solution, and uses its internal tech platform to differentiate from other corporate service providers.
Lanturn’s services include helping companies incorporate in Singapore and handling visa applications for new hires. It is led by chief executive officer Velisarios Kattoulas.
Kattoulas told TechCrunch that Lanturn’s seed funding will be used for hiring and to develop its technology.
In a statement about the investment, East Ventures managing partner and co-founder Batara Eto said, “We are pleased to support solutions that enable agility and adaptability among businesses, especially in the wake of the pandemic, and Lanturn provides that by leveraging technology to streamline corporate services and empower businesses to make more informed data-driven decisions.”
Other participants in the round included individual investors Alex Turnbull; RVP Equity managing partner Saki Georgiadis; Meiyen Tan, the head of Oon & Bazul’s restructuring and insolvency practice; White & Case Asia-Pacific partner Chris Kelly; and Next Billion Ventures venture partner Tiang Foo Lim.
Lanturn’s clients range in size from very early-stage startups with only one person, to small and mid-sized asset managers, SMEs and tech firms that have more than 100 employees spread across several countries.
The COVID-19 pandemic meant there was less demand for Lanturn’s services this year than the company had expected, but on the other hand, “the pandemic has highlighted to clients that because Lanturn has its own cloud-based corporate services platform, we can serve them as well today as we could before the pandemic,” Kattoulas said. “That’s helped us maintain momentum, and it’s one reason we’ll grow more this year than almost any cloud-based or traditional corporate services firm.”

Press Play announces live Portals event with $1,000,000 grand prize
Press Play is going all out on its Portals event.
What you need to know
- Press Play Slots has announced a live gaming event.
- The Portals event will give players the chance to win a $1 million grand prize.
- The 24-hour event will kick off on Friday, October 9 at 11 PM ET.
In a press release, Press Play has announced that it is launching a live 24-hour event inside Press Play Slots, currently the #3 app in the Casino category on the App Store. The Portals event will give players the chance to win a $1,000,000 grand prize, a first of its kind event in a mobile gaming app. For those who miss out on the $1 million prize, players will still have chances to win $250,000 in other cash prizes.
The event will begin on Friday, October 9 at 11 PM ET and last until Saturday, October 10 at 11 PM ET. The first person to unlock all twenty-five portals will win the $1 million grand prize, while the next twenty players to beat the game will each win $10,000. Another $50,000 in prizes will also be available for other players.
This limited-time event is just the latest and largest cash giveaway for the rising game studio. Press Play Slots, which has ranked as high as the #1 casino game on Apple's App Store recently, already hands out more than $200,000 a month in cash prizes through normal play.
Unlike traditional casino games, the Press Play Slots app requires no money from its users in order to play. Instead of costing money, players watch ads in order to get more coins to continue playing the game.
If you want to try your chance at winning the $1,000,000 grand prize or one of the twenty-plus other prizes, download Press Play Slots for free on the App Store and play the Portals 24-hour event between Friday, October 9 at 11 PM ET and Saturday, October 10 at 11 PM ET.
