Watch Apple’s WWDC keynote live right here

Apple is holding a keynote today on the first day of its developer conference, and the company is expected to talk about a ton of software updates. WWDC is a virtual event this year, but you can expect the same amount of news, in a different format. At 10 AM PT (1 PM in New York, 6 PM in London, 7 PM in Paris), you’ll be able to watch the event as the company is streaming it live.

Rumor has it that the company plans to unveil new versions of its operating systems. Get ready for iOS 14 and its sibling iPadOS 14, a new version of macOS, some updates for watchOS and tvOS as well.

But the most interesting rumor of the year is that Apple could announce a major change for the Mac. The company could start using its own in-house ARM systems on a chip instead of Intel’s processors. It would have a ton of consequences for third-party apps running on your Mac as well as Mac hardware in general. Imagine a MacBook with a battery that lasts as long as what you get from an iPad. There could be some more hardware news, such as a new design for the iMac or some Tile-style hardware trackers.

If you have an Apple TV, you can download the Apple Events app in the App Store. It lets you stream today’s event and rewatch old ones. The app icon was updated a few days ago for the event.

And if you don’t have an Apple TV and don’t want to use YouTube, the company also lets you live-stream the event from the Apple Events section on its website. This video feed now works in all major browsers — Safari, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

RSS Box permite generar feeds RSS de servicios y sitios en donde no los hay

RSS Box es uno de esos sitios superútiles para quienes amamos los feeds RSS para seguir los contenidos que se publican en la web. Basta introducir el nombre de la cuenta de la que se quiere extraer la información y RSS Box genera el feed RSS al instante.

Más específicamente: los feeds en ocasiones son enlaces generados a partir del contenido, en otras son simplemente enlaces a los feeds originales que están un poco ocultos. (También hay algunos que no funcionan del todo bien, todo sea dicho). Actualmente están disponibles los feeds para:

Twitter YouTube Vimeo Instagram Periscope Soundcloud Mixcloud

Twitch Speedrun UStream Dailymotion YouTube Imgur SVT Play

Esto quiere decir se puede, por ejemplo, añadir los feeds RSS de los canales de YouTube favoritos y leer en lector RSS cómodamente, como Feedly, viendo cómodamente todo lo nuevo que aparece, tal cual se va publicando. Sin tener que ir a YouTube. Y lo mismo para Vimeo, Twitter, Instagram… Puede ser muy útil para ese tipo de información que no son realmente «personas contando cosas» con las que no interactúas, sino más bien medios informativos, cuentas corporativas, canales de youtube o o podcasts y similares. Lo puedes tener todo centralizado en un solo sitio. Ese es el poder del RSS y su agregación.

Trágicamente el RSS quizá sea el invento más valioso e incomprendido de la llamada Web 2.0. En su época dorada permitía «suscribirte» a blogs y otros sitios desde un software agregador RSS y recibir la información –de todo tipo– que se actualizaba de forma ágil y simple. Cualquier servicio a cuyos contenidos se añada un feed RSS es diez veces más potente, así de simple. El caso es que hace tiempo muchos sitios se «cerraron» y dejaron de ofrecer feeds RSS; la gente se acostumbró a tener que saltar de app en app para ver todo lo que le interesaba, aunque se pierda más tiempo y sea menos cómodo.

First ARM Macs will be MacBook Pros and an all-new iMac: report

Apple is set to unveil its long-awaited Mac transition from Intel to ARM processors today at its online WWDC 2020 keynote, and analyst Ming-chi Kuo has issued his predictions for the first Macs that will use the new Apple-designed processors. His research note was reported on by MacRumors, 9to5Mac, and AppleInsider.

First of all, Kuo says the last new Intel-based Mac ever will be a brand new iMac design with thinner bezels and a 24-inch display. This iMac is said to be planned for a release in Q3 2020, but an ARM version will follow it in the first quarter of next year.

The first ARM Mac is likely to be a 13-inch MacBook Pro in Q4 2020 or Q1 2021, Kuo says; the form factor is believed to be similar to the current model. Production of...

Android’s AirDrop-style file sharing feature may be available for more than just mobile devices

Android’s upcoming AirDrop-style sharing feature, called Nearby Share (and referred to also as Nearby Sharing), may also come to Chrome on numerous other platforms, 9to5Google reports. The feature will allow Android users to directly share photos, links, and other files with other devices, similar to how AirDrop works across macOS and iOS.

The feature has apparently started to show up in the settings of the latest build of Chrome OS Canary:
