Mislabeling a transaction is a big deal when you are Apple.
Reported by MacRumors, Apple Card users are getting confused when finding a transaction from "Waters, Hardy & Co" on their credit card statement. Oddly enough, it appears that the transactions are actually from AT&T and not an occurrence of widespread fraud.
According to the report, the issue is very new, only starting to show on the transaction history for Apple Card users yesterday. Unfortunately for Waters, Hardy & Co, this mislabeling prompted so many calls to their offices that they had to shut their phone lines down.
The problem appears to have started at some point yesterday, with tax preparation service Waters, Hardy & Co receiving hundreds of phone calls from confused customers. In a Facebook post, the company said that it had received so many calls from Apple Card owners that its phones had to be turned off.
One Apple Card customer experienced the issue firsthand and, according to Waters, Hardy & Co, Apple is to be blamed for their name being mislabeled for AT&T.
MacRumors reader Kyle alerted us to the problem. He found an incorrect merchant charge for "Waters, Hardy & Co" listed in the Wallet app, which was actually his bill from AT&T. He contacted the company and received a voice recording with a message that said Apple had incorrectly listed Waters, Hardy & Co as the merchant for the AT&T charges.
According to the customers who were affected and Waters, Hardy & Co, both were assured by Apple that the company was working to resolve the issue.
If you haven't installed the update, you didn't miss out.
A couple of weeks ago, Apple rolled out Safari 14 and a number of security updates to users of macOS Catalina and Mojave. The update, which came before Safari 14 rolls out with macOS Big Sur later this fall, allowed users to experience Safari's new design, privacy reports, and support for 4K HDR video from sites like YouTube.
However, as reported by MacRumors, Apple appears to have pulled both the macOS Mojave and Catalina security updates, as well as Safari 14 for macOS Mojave.
Apple appears to have pulled the latest macOS Mojave Security Update (2020-005), which was released on September 24 alongside the macOS Catalina 10.15.7 update. Apple has also removed the ability for users to download Safari 14 for macOS Mojave.
According to a report by Mr. Macintosh, both of the updates were causing issues for users running macOS Mojave.
macOS Mojave users who installed the updates have been noticing memory issues, slow boot times and Finder stalling, numerous system.log entries, and crashes when attempting to use Migration assistant, among other problems. Complaints about the update started shortly after it was released, but Apple did not pull the updates until yesterday.
For those running macOS Mojave that have already installed the update, Apple will be releasing another update to patch the issues. As noted by MacRumors, restoring from a Time Machine backup or upgrading to macOS Catalina would also fix the problems.

The new public beta has restored two things missing from the last release.
Reported by 9to5Mac, Apple has rereleased the watchOS 7.1 Public Beta to those signed up in the Apple Beta Software Program. The new release has restored missing watch faces and the Blood Oxygen app, two things that were missing from the release when it was originally rolled out to beta testers.
When Apple launched the watchOS 7.1 beta, two notable changes were that the Blood Oxygen app and the new watch faces that came with watchOS 7 were missing. The second developer beta and public beta that's arrived today for watchOS 7.1 bring those missing features back.
If you want to learn more about the new Blood Oxygen app, check out our review on the Apple Watch Series 6.
Those signed up for the Apple Beta Software Program for the Apple Watch can download the watchOS 7.1 Public Beta by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update on their Apple Watch. You can also check for it through the Watch app on your iPhone.
Apple released a number of developer and public beta updates this week across the board. Most notably would be the iOS 14.2 developer beta, which adds a bunch of new emojis including a black cat, blueberries, and a transgender flag.
watchOS 7 has been available to the public for the past two weeks, bringing with it sleep tracking, new watch faces, and automatic handwashing detection.
I can’t put it better than SEGAbits: “Famitsu magazine took the photo we all wanted to see.”
The photo is of Sega’s upcoming Game Gear Micro — perhaps the most ridiculous miniature gaming nostalgia bomb ever announced by virtue of the exorbitant price you’ll pay to carry just four games at a time — and the Dreamcast’s infamous VMU, also known as the unholy spawn of a PlayStation memory card and the original Nintendo Game Boy.

Truth be told, I didn’t know I needed to see this photo until I saw it, because I never could have imagined the glory that I now behold. Or maybe just because I didn’t do the math.

Google’s Stadia controller now has support for USB-C audio devices when playing on a Chromecast or via a web browser. That gives you an easy way to add headphones and a microphone, since you can simply plug in a set of wired USB-C earbuds like the Google’s Pixel USB-C earbuds, gaming headset, the Asus ROG Delta, or even the wireless SteelSeries Arctis 1 gaming headset with its wireless USB-C adapter (It works, a Redditor confirms.)
It’s nice that Stadia players have another audio option beyond the built-in 3.5mm jack, and it’s cool and unusual for any game controller to offer USB-C audio, but it still took almost a year for Google to add it after promising the feature was coming.

The new map brings with it a ton of new features.
In a post on the Apple Newsroom website, Apple has announced that it is rolling out its new map to the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
As part of the rollout, users will now be able to experience the new features that rolled out to the Apple Maps app in the United States and more with the release of iOS 14, including Look Around, Guides, cycling directions, and more. Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, stressed that the new map will allow users to get where they are going faster (and greener) than ever before, all while maintaining their privacy.
"Apple Maps is the best way to explore and navigate the world — all while protecting your privacy — and we're excited to bring the new map to our users in the UK and Ireland ... We have rebuilt the map from the ground up, with better navigation, richer detail, more accurate information for places, and incredible features like Look Around, cycling directions, and curated Guides from trusted resources. We've reimagined how Maps can help users find the places they love and get to where they're going even faster and easier."
Apple stresses that privacy is "central to the Maps experience" and is built into a lot of the apps and services people rely on every day, including Photos, Messages, Weather, Instagram, and Nike Run Club.
Maps helps hundreds of millions of people in over 200 countries and territories navigate and explore the world. Privacy is central to the Maps experience, offering personalised features created using on-device intelligence, and it's everywhere customers are: at home, in the office, on the go on users' iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, and in the car with CarPlay. Maps is deeply integrated into the most popular apps customers use every day, including Photos, Messages, Calendar, Weather, and more. With MapKit and MapKit JS, Maps is also the foundation for many popular third-party apps and services like Instagram, Bank of America, and Nike Run Club.
The new map, as well as all of its new features, is available to citizens of both the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland in the Apple Maps app starting today. Before today's announcement, the company also rolled out 3D mapping to Amsterdam and transit directions in Lisbon.
The Walking Dead and all its spinoffs will be on Apple TV Channels now.
Reported by MacRumors, Apple has added AMC+ to the list of content providers on its Apple TV Channels platform. The premium service offers access to shows and films from AMC, Shudder, BBC America, and more.
AMC+ provides access to ad-free programming from AMC channels and other streaming services like Shudder, Sundance Now, and IFC Films Unlimited, AMC library shows, and early access to AMC series before they air on TV. It also includes on-demand content and live feeds of AMC, BBC America, IFC, and Sundance, though live content will include ads.
According to the report, AMC+ was previously only available through traditional and digital-only cable subscription services, so its foray into Apple TV is the first time it will be available as a standalone service. AMC+ will cost users $8.99 per month.
Prior to today, AMC+ was limited to Comcast, Dish, and SlingTV subscribers, but there was no standalone option that did not involve a cable subscription. Subscribing to AMC+ through Apple TV Channels will cost $8.99 per month, with a 7-day free trial available to test it out. The service is also available through Amazon Prime Video.
One notable benefit for subscribers to AMC+ will be the ability to have early access to the new "Walking Dead" spinoff series, "The Walking Dead: World Beyond."
Apple TV Channels brings together a number of streaming services into one, easy to navigate area in the Apple TV app. Other services offered through Apple TV Channels include Showtime, Starz, and Epix.
Gather the ingredients necessary to create the perfect Harvest Festival dishes.
One of the best things about Animal Crossing: New Horizons is that the game continues to roll out fun new seasonal events and activities throughout the year. In the month of November, we're going to celebrate the Harvest Festival with our villagers and meet a new character named Franklin.
which takes place around the Thanksgiving holiday in November.
Within the Animal Crossing universe, the Harvest Festival functions like Thanksgiving and celebrates the harvest season within your region. So, in the US this falls in the month of November. In past games, this event has taken place on Thanksgiving Day in the US. It's likely it will also be confined to a one-day event within New Horizons.
In past Animal Crossing games, Franklin was a central part of the Harvest Festival. It's possible he was named after Benjamin Franklin. You see, there's a myth surrounding the American Founding Father that he wanted the turkey to be America's national bird instead of the eagle.
In past games, the chef would set up in the village and then inform you that he was missing key ingredients for his dishes. If the player helped him acquire the ingredients he needed, he'd reward them with Harvest Series furniture and other Animal Crossing goodies. We're guessing he'll play the same role in New Horizons. As always, we'll update as we learn more.
Franklin's Animal Crossing amiibo card can be purchased on Amazon. However, when I tried to scan his card today the game told me the same thing Jack's did, "Franklin can't be invited to Photopia". I'll keep trying and will update if this changes.
These are all of the items that players could get from Franklin in New Leaf. Franklin may give out some of these items in New Horizons. We'll update when we learn more.
There are plenty more exciting things coming our way within Animal Crossing in the months ahead. Hopefully you have a good time running errands for Franklin and look forward to the next holiday events just around the corner.
