Google has banned the Infowars Android app over false coronavirus claims

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey And Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg Testify To Senate Committee On Foreign Influence Operations Photo by Drew Angerer/Getty Images

Google has banned the Infowars Android app from the Google Play store, the company confirmed to Wired on Friday. Google also confirmed the app’s removal to The Verge, and we couldn’t find the Infowars app in a search on the Play Store this evening.

The app was apparently removed because of a video posted by radio host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones that, according to Wired, “disputed the need for social distancing, shelter in place, and quarantine efforts meant to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.” Before it was removed, the app had more than 100,000 downloads, Wired reports.

“Now more than ever, combating misinformation on the...

The Magic Mouse isn't the only option for your Mac

Apple's Magic Mouse isn't for everyone. It's got multi-touch gesture support and is rechargeable, but many people would still trade fancy features for a traditional mouse. A good mouse is nothing to scoff at — you use them every day, and you're going to want one that is comfortable and has all the features you want, whether you work from home or in the office. So, if you don't like the Magic Mouse that came with your Mac, you can and should get something else. Here are our top choices!

Best all-around mouse

Logitech M720

Staff favorite

Also known as the Triathalon Mouse, Logitech's low-cost wireless mouse is a great option for most people. It's called the Triathalon Mouse because it has three Bluetooth device connections. You can use it with your iMac Pro at home, your MacBook Pro on the go, and your PC at work.

$34 at Amazon $50 at Best Buy

For the gamers

SteelSeries Rival 650

SteelSeries makes an impeccable gaming mouse with nearly zero lag, pinpoint accurate crosshair placement, and the lowest lift-off detection around. Its buttons and weight balance is highly customizable for even the pickiest gamer.

$106 at Amazon $120 at Walmart

Low-cost option

Amazon Basics Wireless Mouse

If you're looking for a basic mouse with no bells and whistles, and you don't want to pay a lot for it, Amazon makes a reliable, simple mouse with no frills in your choice of fun colors. It also costs less than a large pizza.

From $16 at Amazon

Low profile

Logitech Pebble M350

If you're looking for something that has a slim and flat profile, much like the Magic Mouse, the Logitech Pebble is a great choice. It does use a USB receiver, but it has a very quiet click, left and right-click buttons, and a tactile and responsive scroll wheel.

$30 at Amazon $38 at Walmart

King of the mice

Logitech MX Master 3

Some love the Logitech MX Master 3 because of the shape, while others like it because of its ability to track anywhere (even frosted glass) or because it's rechargeable. If you have multiple computers or supported tablets, you can switch between them easier than ever here, too.

$100 at Amazon $100 At Best Buy

Work or play comfortably

VicTsing Pioneer Wireless Mouse

Nobody likes being in the middle of a big project and then have their hands start to cramp or get sweaty. VicTsing helps to combat this with its ergonomic design, aiming to help fit the contours of your hands while providing a better grip on the sides. There's no USB-C, but VicTsing states the Pioneer's battery will last for up to a year before needing to recharge it.

From $11 at Walmart $30 at Amazon

Get the mouse that works for you

When it comes down to which mouse is the best, it's really down personal preferences. The main thing is you get a mouse that has all the features you want.

We love the Logitech M720 because it's so versatile. The ability to have three connections simultaneously allows you to use it with multiple devices without having to worry about pairing it each time.

If you're looking for a similar look and feel to the Magic Mouse, the Logitech Pebble is probably the closest I have ever tried. It may not be a touch device, but the low profile and flat top make it easy to use for left or right-handed people to use, and it has a super quiet click mechanism, so it never gets annoying.

Lastly, if you like to game at all the SteelSeries Rival 650 is a great gaming mouse that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars. It has very low input lag and incredible accuracy, making it perfect for clicking heads in your favorite shooter or commanding troops or the latest RTS game.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons — Time travel guide

Wibbley Wobbley Timey Wimey. Time Travel can make Animal Crossing complicated!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons, like previous installments in the series, runs on real time. If an hour passes in the real world, it also passes in your game, whether you're playing or not. If Tom Nook says your house will be ready tomorrow, you have to wait until tomorrow for your house to be finished. There is an exception though — time travel, and it's exactly what it sounds like. Here's how to use it in your game.

Time traveling in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

While early reports suggested that Animal Crossing: New Horizons would not allow for time traveling, it didn't take players long to figure out how to accomplish this feat to some pretty impressive ends. By adjusting the time and date on your Switch, you can move your game forward or backward in time. Before you go jumping into the future, though, it's important to know that you can cause some significant and undesirable changes by skipping time.

Why would I want to time travel anyways?

Because Animal Crossing: New Horizons runs on real-time, there can be a lot of waiting around. Let's say a new villager just moved to your island. Well, you have to wait until they're finished unpacking to interact with them. Usually, this would mean checking back in after a day, but with time travel, you can skip straight to tomorrow and have a new villager to interact with.

While that might seem small, let's say it's something a little more important. Maybe you missed out on one of the weekly visitors. Did you miss your turnips this past Sunday? Well, you can skip ahead and buy next Sunday's turnips right now.

What are the risks?

When traveling forward in time, the game will behave as though you simply hadn't played for the time skipped. If you're only skipping a day at a time, this isn't a big deal, but if you skip two months, you will find your island is overrun with weeds and your villagers have moved away. Fruit left on the ground when time traveling will rot and trash will collect; you may even find cockroaches in your home! Basically, your island will be a dump if you go too far all at once. If you're trying to sell turnips, skipping to the next week will also make all your turnips rot and going back in time won't fix them, either.

Time traveling also won't let you take part in certain events. For example, Bunny Day is an annual event that occurs from April 1-12. If you were to skip ahead to April 1, right now, you would not be able to take part in this event. Your Switch console's clock needs to be synchronized via Internet to take part in these types of events.

How does it work?

If you've read through all that and still want to time travel, the process is pretty easy. Just follow these easy steps:

  1. Press the - button to save and exit Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
  2. Press the Home button to return to the home screen.
  3. Press the X button to close Animal Crossing.

  4. Press the sun-shaped icon at the bottom of the screen to open the System Settings.
  5. Select System
  6. Select Date & Time

  7. Select "Synchronize Clock via Internet to turn off time syncing.
  8. Change the date and/or time.
  9. Press the B button until you've returned to the home screen.
  10. Reopen Animal Crossing.

Just make sure you use your new power responsibly!

How to host virtual Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Disney+, and YouTube watch parties

Lyft is referring drivers to jobs at Amazon after massive ridership decline

Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge

Lyft is now referring drivers on its platform to jobs at Amazon in a partnership between the two companies designed to alleviate financial hardships from a massive drop in ride-hailing usage, according to a report from Bloomberg.

Lyft notified drivers of the program on Friday via email and said it’s encouraging them to apply to roles in Amazon warehouses and as part of the e-commerce company’s grocery and package deliveries platforms. Unlike Uber, which operates a food delivery platform, Lyft does not delivery meals or groceries, and its ridership has plummeted in recent weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Amazon is among the few companies still able...
