Description: A Pokémon that looks more like a plane than an animal, Latias is part of the Eon Duo. Unlike most Legendary Pokémon, Latias also has a gender, with all Latias being female. She has a long neck, wing like limbs, and no legs. Most of the front half of her body is white, save for pink markings on her face, while the back half of her body is mostly pink, save for a blue triangle marking on her belly. Capable of Mega Evolution, Mega Latias has purple where she once was pink and has a pair of massive purple wings replace her back wings. She also gains horns at the sides of her head, and she has triangle marks on her wings.

Latias is covered with glass like feathers which she can shift to refract light, making her seemingly invisible. She is exceptionally intelligent, capable of understanding human speech and communicating with humans telepathically. She also has a unique ability called "sight sharing" which allows her to show others what her twin, Latios is seeing. Usually found near the water, Latias tends to avoid contact with humans and other Pokémon.

Antivirus software is nearly as crucial as a PC’s operating system. Even if you’re well aware of potential threats and practice extreme caution, some threats just can’t be prevented without the extra help of an AV program—or a full antivirus suite. 

You could, for example, visit a website that unintentionally displays malicious ads. Or accidentally click on a phishing email (it happens!). Or get stung by a zero-day threat, where an undisclosed bug in Windows, your browser, or an installed program gives hackers entry to your system.

We’re not suggesting that PC security software is fool-proof. Antivirus software often can’t do much to stop zero-day exploits, for example. But it can detect when the undisclosed vulnerability is used to install other nasty bits, like ransomware, on your machine. Anyone who actively uses email, clicks on links, and downloads programs will benefit from an antivirus suite.

Lenovo is building another standalone VR headset

Lenovo hasn’t made the best bets in virtual reality so far, but it seems like the company’s about to try again — according to a new FCC filing for the “Lenovo VR3030S,” which company docs identify as an upcoming standalone VR headset.

Standalone means that like Lenovo’s previous Mirage Solo or the Oculus Quest, it shouldn’t require you to plug in a phone or PC, because the processing power is built right in. But where the ill-fated Mirage Solo relied on Google’s effectively defunct Daydream VR platform, a new headset will presumably run on a different one: perhaps Valve’s Steam VR, Microsoft’s Windows Mixed Reality, or maybe even Facebook’s Oculus?

NatGeo Photog Brian Skerry thinks iPhone photographers are great

Take great photos, no matter what you are using.

Few of us have what it takes to put our bodies a hundred feet underwater for several hours in order to get a single photo of a rare sea critter, but this National Geographic Photographer is exactly that person. His days are long, physically exhausting in ways most of us will never know, and involve traveling to extreme and beautiful locations all around the world. And if you've ever seen any of the incredible work he's published, your life is richer for it.

But, when he's not at work, Brian has an iPhone in his pocket. And when I saw that, I wanted to know what he had to say about those of us who use our phones as our primary cameras. Unsurprisingly, he loves it.

I think, ultimately, anything that helps you make a picture that satisfies your crative juices or helps you tell a story or lets you show your friends a cool thing, having a device you can take anywhere like that, is a great thing. There's nothing wrong with that, I think technology is fantastic and the smaller and lighter and better it gets is wonderful.

I do think, you know, as good as these get there are limitations. I can't do some things with my camera phone that I can do with my Nikon. I can change lenses, the glass is better, the low-light gathering capabilities, but you know these are getting pretty darn good as well. I'm not a snob about the camera, I think whatever you use to get pictures you're happy with is great. And if you've got it in your hand you're probably going to use it.

For what I do professionally, it's not like National Geographic is telling me what to use, I could use an old Tintype if I wanted quite frankly, as long as the quality is decent they can publish it they're happy.

Brian will be joining dozens of other gifted National Geographic experts working together to take the world on a live journey this Earth Day (April 22nd) through a show called Born Wild: Earth Day Live.

‘Kings of the Castle’ impressions: A gem that loses its shine too quickly

Someday, perhaps, Nintendo will give us a Zelda game where the princess steals into a castle to rescue Link. In the meantime, though, we can act out a similar scenario with Apple Arcade’s new Kings of the Castle. Here, a dragon named Zantorian has locked away the poor Prince Rupert in a castle and she won’t let him go unless the princess manages to pony up around 250 gems.

Zantorian is actually pretty all right as far as royalty-nabbing dragons go. She positively litters her island with diamonds, which makes me wonder if this is all really some kind of Tom Sawyer scheme to get the princess to clean up what she considers trash. She doesn’t even set a deadline for when the princess needs to turn in the gems, and when the princess drops them off, she accepts them with the nonchalance of someone signing for an Amazon delivery.
