Lime is buying up remnants of electric skateboard company Boosted

Scooter sharing company Lime is scooping up assets of defunct electric skateboard startup Boosted, The Verge has learned. At least five of Boosted’s core patents were assigned to Lime’s holding company on April 15th in the government’s database, and two former employees say Lime has been working on acquiring Boosted’s intellectual property dating back to the end of 2019.

The move comes after a proposed acquisition from Yamaha fell through for Boosted earlier this year, according to the two former employees familiar with the deal, who were granted anonymity because of non-disclosure agreements they signed with the startup.

It’s unclear if Lime will take on any of the few employees who are still with Boosted, or who will handle outstanding...

New HomeKit accessories and bike mount kit land on Apple Store website

The Apple Store website continues to drop new accessories after the iPhone SE announcement.

• More accessories were released alongside the new iPhone SE.

A new iPhone isn't the only thing to come to the Apple Store website this week. Reported by MacRumors, Apple has added some new HomeKit accessories and a bike mount kit to its store for purchase.

The first is the First Alert Onelink Smart Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm. The smart alarm works with HomeKit and comes in both a hardwired or battery-powered configuration for $119.95.

"With the First Alert Onelink Smart Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm, you can add advanced protection to your home and get peace of mind with smart notifications in the event of an emergency. Conveniently designed to be tested or silenced from your phone, it requires no battery replacements, and lasts up to 10 years. It also speaks to tell you what the danger is and where it is located within the home. Interconnect multiple alarms to create a home fire-safety network, so that when one sounds, they all do."

Another HomeKit-enabled accessory added to the store is the Eve Energy Smart Plug & Power Meter. The accessory will allow you to turn devices plugged into the smart plug on or off with either the Home app or with a Siri voice command. It retails for $39.95.

"With Eve Energy Smart Plug & Power Meter, you can switch appliances on and off with a simple tap or Siri voice command. Sync devices with your daily routine and see how much power you're using. The last accessory to newly make its way on to the store is a bike mount kit for the iPhone 11 Pro from Quad Lock. New feature coming to macOS will extend the life of your MacBook battery

100% battery on your MacBook will soon mean something a little different.

• Safeguards are being put into place to ensure the battery is not charged to its max.
• This will extend the life of the battery before it ultimately needs replacement.

Making sure the battery is charged in your MacBook is something all of us do every day. Unfortunately, constantly charging that battery to 100% puts a strain on it, and over time the life of that battery takes a toll. In a new software update, Apple is looking to introduce a feature that will let us charge at will but protect our batteries so that they last even longer.

Reported by The Verge, Apple is introducing a new feature in macOS Catalina called "Battery health management". The feature is rolling out to developers today and will be available to consumers when macOS 10.15.5 is released to the public.

The feature will extend the life of the physical battery in your MacBook by not truly charging your battery to 100% of what it is capable of, but instead charge it to a level that still gives you great battery life while ensuring your battery lasts longer before needing to be replaced.

In order to ensure the feature benefits users, macOS will look at your charging history and battery temperature in order to make the best changes possible. It will take into account a number of different aspects when making adjustments such as "ambient temperature, processor loads, and charging patterns." Apple assures that all of this analysis is happening on device and, for those who do decide to share analytics with the company, all data will be kept anonymous.

According to the company, the feature will work for any MacBook Pro since 2016 and MacBook Air since 2018. Users will be able to turn the feature off in Settings, but it will be on by default.

The life of a battery is more than the amount of hours it keeps your MacBook running before needing a charge, and if Apple can extend the lifespan of the laptop battery without having to sacrifice on time, it will be a great win for everyone.

DJI’s Mavic Air 2 might be coming soon, and these leaks reveal quite a lot about it

Drone company DJI released the compact $799 Mavic Air in January 2018, and The Verge’s Vjeran Pavic thought it was a great drone, though not the best option for serious photo and video work. More than two years on from the Mavic Air’s release, it seems as if DJI is close to releasing a proper sequel in the form of the Mavic Air 2.

The first clue that something could be releasing soon is that DJI has scheduled an event for Monday, April 27th at 9:30PM ET. The company teased the event on Twitter earlier this week:
