Pocket has received a substantial update today, bringing new features, including support for extensions in iOS 8. Additionally, you can now tag when you save something, and share with more services, and seamlessly move your reading between mobile and desktop.
Pocket now comes with a sharing extension for iOS 8 users. You can turn it on by pressing the More button in a share sheet and switching Pocket switch to the on position. All you have to do to save something to Pocket now is bring up the share sheet and tap the Pocket button, and it will be saved. You can now tag items as you save them as part of the share extension. When you save and item, you'll get a confirmation box. Tap the Tag icon to assaign a tag to your new item.
With iOS 8, it's also easier to share your saved articles, images, and videos with more services. Simply bring up the share sheet and press the More button to find new services to share with.
Pocket 5.6 also features support for the handoff feature in iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite. While in the app's own web browser, you will be able to open your currently viewd page in Safari on your iPad or Mac. Obviously, this feature will only work with your other iOS 8 devices until Yosemite is released to the public later this year.
