How to sort and organize alerts in Notification Center for iPhone and iPad

The whole point of Notification Center, Apple's always-accessible alert drop-down, is to make it easier find and stay up to date on the information that matters the most to you. By default, Notification Center will list app alerts in the order in which the app was installed. You can take control of notification handling on your iPhone or iPad, however, and organizing alerts and notifications in a way that makes the most sense to you, either by time and date, or by whatever order you wish.

How to manually sort the order of alerts in Notification Center

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Tap on Notification Center.

  3. Under the Notifications View section, tap on Sort Manually to select it.

  4. Now tap Edit in the top right corner.

  5. Under the Include section simply drag items to reorder how you'd like them to appear in Notification Center. For example, if you want Calendar alerts to always appear first no matter what, drag the Calendar app all the way to the top.

  6. When you're finished organizing, just tap Done in the upper right hand corner.

How to sort Notification Center alerts by date and time

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Tap on Notification Center.

  3. Under the Notifications View section, tap on Sort By Time to select it.

That's it! Notification Center will now sort things in the order you've specified or by time, depending on what option you chose.

How do you sort notifications on your iPhone or iPad? Do you prefer them to appear in the order they were received or do you put your most cared about apps first? Let me know in the comments!
