Concur Technologies, the same folks who handle many of our corporate travel and expense systems, has quietly acquired conTgo, a cloud-based mobile communications and messaging platform aimed at the global travel industry.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
conTgo, the latest in a long string of acquisitions from Concur, is based in the UK and Australia, and has mobile apps offering communication tools for corporate customers. Concur plans on using conTgo’s location-based services and messaging platform to bring new services to its customers.
Concur outlines some of these new features in a press release, including group traveling that allows users to see where their colleagues are booking and when, deals from local merchants and vendors during delays, colleague carpools, and more.
Here’s what conTgo’s founders Henrik Conradsen and Johnny Thorsen had to say:
We are excited about this perfect fit of both technology and culture between our companies. We will continue to deliver duty of care offerings to our customers and partners and plan to use our award-winning technology for new services that support Concur’s vision of The Perfect Trip.
conTgo specializes in bringing context to communication during travel, especially for corporate clients who need to coordinate with colleagues or remain efficient during layovers or travel hangups. According to the conTgo website, the company serves 5,000 companies and has more than 500,000 unique users around the world from 90 different countries.
This, along with the startup’s founders Henrik Conradsen and Johnny Thorsen, will migrate over to Concur.
Over the past decade, Concur has completed a total of seven transactions, including this latest one of conTgo. Their shopping spree also includes the acquisition of UK-based expense management firm GlobalExpense in 2011, the reportedly $120 million acquisition of TripIt in 2012, as well as Etap-Online, Gelco, Outtask, and Captura.
Concur recently announced “The Perfect Trip” fund, which will inject $150 million into travel startups around the world.
