Currently, if you need a replacement organ you'll have to join a long waiting list or have a donor ready and willing. An emerging alternative is to 3D print new organs out of a patient's own cells, but that technology is still going through some teething issues. Now researchers have found a surprisingly simple answer to the complex problem of printing detailed vascular networks, and shown it off with a dramatic model of a breathing lung that passes oxygen into surrounding blood vessels.

Master & Dynamic’s first noise-canceling headphones are the featherlight MW65s

Master & Dynamic is one part fashion brand, one part headphones manufacturer. It’s a company that usually champions the premium over the practical, however its latest pair of headphones tries to deliver both. The new Master & Dynamic MW65 over-ear cans have active noise canceling, up to 24 hours of battery life with USB-C fast charging, and a weight of just 250g / 8.8oz. That’s a sliver lighter than Sony’s 1000X M3s, and it’s doubly impressive since M&D is doing it while using substantial chunks of metal and leather instead of Sony’s more pragmatic all-plastic construction. Alas, the MW65s also cost an impressive $499, far higher than Sony’s sensible $349.

Microsoft is going to ship a full Linux kernel in Windows 10

Microsoft has surprised many in the Linux developer community in recent years. Surprises have included bringing things like the Bash shell to Windows, or native OpenSSH in Windows 10, and even including Ubuntu, SUSE Linux, and Fedora in the Windows Store. Microsoft is now going even further, with plans to ship a full Linux kernel directly in Windows 10.

Watch Microsoft’s failed HoloLens 2 Apollo moon landing demo

Microsoft opened its Build developer conference in Seattle this morning with an awkward start. The software giant was supposed to show a recreation of the Apollo moon landing with its HoloLens 2 headsets. Instead, the demo failed, a nightmare scenario for anyone running a live show. “Well, it seems doing a live demo is actually harder than landing on the moon,” said A Man on the Moon author Andrew Chaikin. “Thank you for your time,” said Chaikin, before exiting the stage and leaving the audience confused at a failed demo.
