Apple stores support World AIDS Day by changing logos from white to red

Tomorrow, December 1st, is officially World AIDS day, and just as it has done in recent years, Apple is raising awareness for AIDS relief by changing the color of its logo from white to red at its retail stores.

According to Mashable, Australia is the first to see the switch:

[The Sydney Flagship] is the first store in the world to light up in a show of commitment to the (RED) AIDS initiative, that is fighting for an AIDS-free future. Apple will then change the colour of its logo across key stores in Japan, Hong Kong, China, Europe and the United States, as the various timezones tick into Monday.

Apple has been a big supporter of AIDS research, and frequently collaborates with RED, a charity that raises money to promote AIDS research, education, and treatment. The latest of these collaborations was announced last week when Apple said that it would donate a portion of every retail and online sale on Cyber Monday to AIDS research.

Additionally, a number of apps on the App Store recently went red by updating their branding and pledging to donate proceeds from in-app purchases to AIDS research.
