[Fuente: ESPN. Music publishers say Peloton stole even more music, ask for $300 million

Photo by Amelia Holowaty Krales / The Verge

The National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) has asked the courts to allow it to double its claims against exercise bike and treadmill startup Peloton, after discovering more unlicensed music — including songs by Taylor Swift and Kesha — being used in workout videos that play on the bikes’ built-in screens. It’s now seeking $300 million in damages, as reported by Forbes.

The original complaint, filed in March, accused Peloton of using over 1,000 songs without getting the proper license. At the time, NMPA requested $150 million in damages. After the lawsuit was filed, the offending songs conveniently disappeared, upsetting connected exercise equipment owners who’d gotten used to their beloved playlists.

But not all the songs...

Go hands-free with the best lavalier mics around

When it comes to recording audio, you never want to sacrifice on quality. Sometimes a larger microphone is just too much and that's where a lavalier comes in. While small enough to stay nearly out of sight, lavalier mics — usually used to capture people speaking while allowing the user to be hands-free — can still capture great sound while carrying a great price tag. Even if you need a mic that works across all of your audio recording gear, we've got you covered.

Our Pick

Rode smartLav+ Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone

This small lav mic by Rode brings broadcast-quality audio to your portable devices and features an omnidirectional condenser and Kevlar-coated cable.

$73 at Amazon

This no-frills mic from Audio-Technica connects to any of your 3.5mm devices for recording on the run. It also can be used with newer smartphones with the included adapter.

Shure MVL Omnidirectional Condenser Lavalier Microphone

One of the more premium options on our list, The Shure MVL connects via the 3.5mm jack and features best-in-class in signal-to-noise ratio and carries the legendary Shure durability.

$69 at Amazon

XLR Option

MAONO XLR 10 Lavalier Microphone

This omnidirectional XLR lavalier microphone connects to phantom power and captures clear audio. It comes with two windscreens – one foam, one fuzzy.

$37 at Amazon

Multi-purpose

PowerDeWise Professional Grade Lavalier Microphone

The audio quality of this noise-canceling lavalier microphone is very clear. It is compatible with cell phones, computers and some cameras for recording music videos or podcasts.

$23 at Amazon

Plain and Simple

Giant Squid Audio Lab Omnidirectional Microphone

If you don't need any extra bells and whistles mic from Giant Squid is what you need. With 6 feet of cable, this durable lav still records impressively clear audio.

$42 at Amazon

Bottom line

The best lavalier microphones are durable and flexible enough to be used for recording interviews, live streams or music videos with clear audio. Our top pics is the Rode smartLav+ because of the professional, broadcast-quality of the audio. The cord is wrapped in Kevlar to prevent it from stretching or snapping – a testament to the overall quality of this microphone.

This mic plugs into your cellphone and video cameras with the included TRRS jack. And it works with mobile recording programs to make it easy to record on location rather than in a studio. The microphone is omnidirectional, so it picks up good sound, and the clip helps attach it to lapels or collars for handsfree recording.

Free stock trading could come to Square’s Cash app

Image: Square

Square’s Cash App already lets you do more than just pay back your friends for lunch — the app started letting users buy and sell Bitcoin back in 2017. Soon, it may give you access to another kind of investment: Square is testing a feature to let users buy and sell stocks for free, according to Bloomberg.

We don’t know how this might actually work, and Bloomberg didn’t share any details that it may or may not have seen. Square does make buying Bitcoin on the Cash App pretty easy, so hopefully it brings that same simplicity to its stock trading. Free stock trading app Robinhood already lets you buy and sell stocks and cryptocurrencies with minimal friction, but Square’s Cash App could maybe become a one-stop-shop for transferring money...
