The iPhone 12 will only support 5G mmWave in the United States

Those wanting 5G mmWave outside the United States will have to wait.

What you need to know

  • 5G mmWave will only be available on the iPhone 12 lineup in the United States.
  • The cutout on the side of the iPhone 12 is for 5G mmWave.
  • Other countries will only support low and mid-band 5G.

Reported by 9to5Mac, the entire iPhone 12 lineup will support 5G, but only the models sold in the United States will support the highest speed 5G mmWave. The report confirms that the cutout found on the right side of the new iPhone 12 is something that will only be found for iPhone 12 models in the United States and does in fact enable 5G mmWave.

Apple today introduced the iPhone 12 lineup with four new models, all of which support 5G networks for the first time. However, the super-fast 5G mmWave is exclusive to models sold in the US. In order to improve support for the new 5G network, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro comes with a new side cutout that has confused some people.

9to5Mac also confirmed that only iPhone 12 models sold in the United States will feature the cutout on the right side of the iPhone in order to support 5G mmWave.

Interestingly enough, models with 5G mmWave will be available exclusively in the US, so iPhone 12 models sold in other countries will not have this cutout, as you can see by visiting Apple's website from other regions.

iPhone 12 customers will all be able to enjoy all three levels of 5G coverage, but keep in mind that 5G mmWave, the fastest of the technologies, is still limited to close proximity, meaning that most iPhone 12 owners will most likely rarely come into an area that has it.

You can snag Breath of the Wild for just $40 on Prime Day

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the quintessential game for the Nintendo Switch, and it's definitely on our list of best Nintendo Switch games. It launched alongside the Nintendo Switch in 2017, but it's always full price, even years later. Fortunately, it has gone down to $40 this Prime Day, knocking off $20 from the usual $60 price tag.

A must-have adventure

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is THE game to get for your Nintendo Switch. Enjoy a beautiful open world Hyrule, solve puzzle-filled shrines, take down enemies with a variety of weapons, and work with the four Champions to defeat the Calamity.

The Legend of Zelda is a staple franchise for Nintendo for decades. But for the most part, the games were always pretty linear, and required you to do certain things in order to progress. That all changes with Breath of the Wild.

In Breath of the Wild, you get a huge, open world to explore to your heart's content. There's so much to see and do, from discovering the shrines and solving the puzzles within, to finding powerful weapons and taking down enemies to finding ingredients and cooking. While there are some parts that require you to reach a certain point in order to advance, most of the game can be played however you like. There's no real order for the shrines and bosses, so your play through can differ from someone else's.

Breath of the Wild is also the best introductory Zelda game to date. Even if you've never played a Zelda game before, Breath of the Wild is a perfect starting point. That's because it's so different from previous games thanks to the open world element, and while some dungeons can be more challenging than others, they're not insanely difficult like Ocarina of Time. And the shrine puzzles are always interesting and different from one another, so it never feels repetitive.

One of my favorite parts of the game are all of the different weapons. While you may always associate Link with a sword and sheild, there are spears, axes, bows, pitchforks, skeleton arms, and tons of different weapons. This RPG hybrid element adds a breath of fresh air to the Zelda franchise, though the durability part does get a little annoying.

There are dozens of hours of content in the base Breath of the Wild game, and you can always get the DLC to extend the life of the game even further. Either way, if you have yet to experience Breath of the Wild, you absolutely need to pick it up for cheap on Prime Day!

HomeKit Secure Video cameras are priced just right for you on Prime Day

Motorized controls, HomeKit Secure Video, and 2K visuals all for less than $40 — that's crazy!

During my review of the eufy Security 2K Indoor Cam Pan & Tilt, I was amazed at just how much eufy was able to pack into a HomeKit camera all a price less than half of its closest non-eufy competitor. Now that Prime Day is here, eufy continues to amaze by dropping the Pan & Tilt camera price down to an absolute insane price. If you are in the market for a HomeKit camera, head over to Amazon as quickly as possible, this is not a deal that you want to miss.

HomeKit Secure Video-enabled

The incredibly affordable eufy Security 2K Indoor Cam Pan & Tilt is the only motorized camera available for HomeKit today. This camera sports 2K high definition visuals, IR night vision, two-way audio, and even HomeKit Secure Video, all at an amazingly low price that gets even lower with this Prime Day sale.

Like its name suggests, the eufy Security 2K Indoor Cam Pan & Tilt features 2K high definition visuals and motorized capabilities. The camera can rotate 360-degrees and tilt, providing a better view of its surroundings and track those within its view. That's right; this incredibly affordable camera can follow someone automatically, which can be crucial if a security issue occurs.

Other hardware highlights include IR night vision, two-way audio, and Wi-Fi connectivity that doesn't require a dedicated hub. The camera also has multiple storage options, with an on-board microSD card slot for secure local storage, cloud storage through eufy, and Apple's HomeKit Secure Video, which uses an existing iCloud account. Through HomeKit, the camera works with iOS 14 security features like Activity Zones and Face Recognition, and for Android users, eufy provides similar options in the eufy Security app.

Finally, one of my favorite features is how the camera reacts when it turns off via the eufy Security app. Since the camera is motorized, the lens area rotates inward when toggled off, physically obscuring its view, which is just an incredibly thoughtful touch for an indoor camera. All of these features add up to an incredible value for HomeKit and smart home fans, so now is the time to jump into the world of connected cameras thanks to this insane Prime Day deal.
