How to get the Best Prime Day Kitchen Deals

Amazon Prime Day brings a ton of great deals along with it, and this year should be no exception. Since its inception a few years ago, Prime Day has evolved into quite a shopping event, with big discounts on popular name brand items in a variety of product categories. There's no denying that small kitchen appliances and accessories can be quite pricey, but we hope to help you save some money on your purchase.

Whether you're looking for an Instant Pot to join the craze or a Vitamix blender, Keurig coffee maker, or even an iRobot Roomba vacuum to clean up after you, we expect to see them all on sale at some point during the event. Amazon has yet to officially announce the deals that we will see, but based on what we've seen during previous year's and this past Black Friday, we've put together some predictions to help you figure out how to maximize your savings on Prime Day.

Prime Day Kitchen Deals: Instant Pot pressure cookers

The Instant Pot craze doesn't seem to be going anywhere. During Prime Day the past couple of years, the Instant Pot was one of the most-sold items, and it was super popular during Black Friday. We saw some pretty stellar pricing during Black Friday, but that pricing has been beaten on select models this year already, which leads us to believe that Prime Day could bring the prices even lower.

If you see an Instant Pot deal but miss out on it, don't lose heart. While individual models do tend to sell out, Instant Pot has a dozen different lineups these days. Keep a look out for the Duo, Duo Mini, Lux, Lux Mini, Ultra, and others. Many of them, if not all of them, are sure to be deeply discounted during Prime Day. Which model will go on sale? We don't know that yet. Keep an eye on all of them if you're interested. If one sells out, just go to your next bookmark!

Multi-purpose cooking appliance

Instant Pot

The Instant Pot going on sale on Prime Day is about as sure a thing as you can bet on these days. If the model you're looking for isn't discounted, be sure to check the others!

Prime Day Kitchen Deals: Vitamix

If you want a blender that just about does it all for you, Vitamix is the way to go. Not only can they make smoothies and chop up ice, but most of them can even make hot soup for you. Seriously. How cool is that? What makes Vitamix even cooler is that there is a whole ecosystem of extras to go with its blenders, like cups, blades, bowls, and more.

Most Vitamix blenders usually sell for a few hundred at least. One great way to save is to look at the refurbished units. We just saw the 5300 model drop to $250 during a one-day sale. That's one to keep an eye on because the 5300 is also one of Vitamix's best. The refurbished Explorian has dropped well below $200 and may again.

For new blenders, the Vitamix 5200 regularly drops to around $300 and may even go lower. The 7500 blender has gone as low as $400. We know these blenders, among others, have dropped in price before. That means they're likely to drop again. And even more likely on a huge day like Prime Day. The Vitamix A3300 Ascent Series Smart Blender is the hot new connected blender we expect to see deeply discounted for Prime Day. We'd also like to see the Professional Grade blender get the discount treatment.

Make a Smoothie

Vitamix blenders

Go for refurbs or just keep an eye on the brand new ones for big Prime Day savings. We've seen quite a few go on sale recently, and the ones that have gone on sale before are very likely to go on sale again.

Prime Day Kitchen Deals: KitchenAid

You've probably heard of KitchenAid before. The company makes all kinds of kitchen-related stuff, and it's available at a variety of price points. We regularly see discounts on small blenders, food processors, and plenty of other kitchen accessories throughout the year. Since the items are at a lower cost, the discounts may not appear as huge, but they can still be quite substantial.

These mini food processors sell for an average of $32, but we've seen them drop down to around $20 before, and that's a great target price. The 5-quart standing mixers average $250 to $300 most of the time, though they've dropped down to $200 before. If stand mixers are your thing, you can also keep an eye out for KitchenAid attachments like this as they regularly drop in price, too.

Shake and Bake

KitchenAid appliances

You probably have something from KitchenAid in your kitchen even if you don't already know it. This company makes everything from blenders to shears to giant stand mixers. The stand mixers are the best, too, and might convince you to do a bit more baking!

Prime Day Kitchen Deals: Keurig

It's the household brand for single-serve coffee machines, and there are some great deals on the brewers from time to time. Some of them will only hold enough water to make one cup, others will hold enough to brew several cups, but all of the K-cups are made to brew just a single cup of coffee. Over the years, the company has branched out beyond just coffee and now makes K-cups for hot chocolate, tea, and more.

If you're looking for the most basic and affordable Keurig, grab the K-Mini, which may go on sale for as low as $50, or the K475 single-serve compact maker, which has sold as low as $100 very recently.

If you already have a Keurig, you'll probably find great deals on K-Cups during Prime Day. Amazon actually has a brand called Solimo that sells cups that work with Keurig machines. I'm positive some of those will go on sale. Most coffee makers, from Starbucks to Caribou Coffee, make packs of cups that will surely drop in price on Prime Day, too.

JavaJavaJavaJava

Keurig single-serve coffee makers

Keurig machines can be expensive on any other day. But not Prime Day! Well, you'll still have to pay something but it'll be a lot less than most other days. Keep an eye on the variety of models available, too, because more than one is bound to be discounted.

Prime Day Kitchen Deals: iRobot Roomba robot vacuums

Your first thought when it comes to kitchen gadgets may not be a robot vacuum, but let me tell you, it should be. Having something else vacuum for you while you kick back and relax is amazing, and iRobot's Roomba line are some of the most popular options on the market. There are a whole bunch of models available, each doing something a little different. Pricing tends to start around $300 for the most entry-level ones and goes over $1,000 for versions with all the bells and whistles.

During Black Friday and around the holidays the Roomba 690 dropped down to $275 from its regular selling price of $325. Since then, the company has dropped its average price down to $299, so we hope to see a Prime Day discount closer to $250. The Roomba i7+ (7550) is a more upscale model, so keep an eye out if you want more bells and whistles. Other models to watch out for are the 692, 981, and i6+ (6550).

iRobot is not the only brand in robot vacuums anymore, though. Keep an eye on Eufy, Neato, and more. If price is your primary concern, look for budget options from Ecovacs, Roborock, GOOVI, and others.

Let something else do it

iRobot Roomba Vacuum

iRobot put robot vacuums on the map. We expect to see several iRobot Roomba vacuums on sale for Prime Day, so if the exact model you're looking for isn't discounted, try one of the others!

Never Pay Full Price: Dyson

From hand-held vacuums to corded ones, and even Wi-Fi-enabled air purifiers, Dyson is a brand that people know and trust. With that trust comes a price tag, but you can often find a decent deal if you look around or wait. Big shopping events, like Prime Day, are often a great time for Dyson related discounts to surface, and we hope this year is no exception.

We expect Dyson's Wi-Fi Air Purifier to see major discounts on Prime Day. We see a lot of Dyson deals on older model vacuums, and believe me when I say even the older models are pretty awesome. The Dyson Cyclone V10 Animal will probably drop to $400 on Prime Day. The Dyson V7 could easily drop to an all-time low on the big day. We also regularly see Dyson vacuums go on sale refurbished, which is another path for you to pursue if a Dyson is what you want.

Get Rid of the Dirt

Dyson vacuums

Everyone wants a Dyson, but no one wants to pay for one. The key to finding an awesome Dyson vacuum is two-fold: look for previous generations like this V7 Motorhead that regularly drops in price or look at refurbished vacuums, which also make great deals.

Here are our favorite dream islands to visit in ACNH

A dream is a wish your heart makes.

For the past several months, I've seen hundreds or gorgeous Animal Crossing: New Horizons villages that have seemingly been terraformed and decorated by experts. Up until recently, I've had to admire these creations from afar by watching YouTube videos or getting lucky enough to get invited over by the owners. Well, all that changed with the Summer Wave 2 update, which has brought dreaming to the game.

Players can share their dream islands with others using an Animal Crossing Dream Address. The best part about it is that that visitors can run around and look at your creations without affecting the "real" island. Since this is the case, several talented island curators have been sharing their Animal Crossing Dream Addresses publicly so others can admire their work. We've looked around and gathered the most gorgeous islands we could find. Here are the best dream islands to visit in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Malaysian on-demand work platform GoGet lands $2 million Series A

GoGet, a Malaysian on-demand work platform, announced today that it has raised a $2 million Series A led by Monk’s Hill Ventures. The platform currently has 20,000 gig workers, who are called “GoGetters,” and has onboarded 5,000 businesses, including Lazada Malaysia, IKEA Malaysia, Foodpanda and flower delivery service BloomThis.

While Malaysia has other on-demand work platforms, including Supahands and Kaodim, each has its own niche. Supahands focuses on online tasks, while Kaodim offers professional services like home repairs, catering and fitness training. GoGet is more similar to TaskRabbit, with GoGetters performing errands or temp work like deliveries, moving large items, catering at events, data entry and office administration.

Chief executive officer and co-founder Francesca Chia founded GoGet in 2014. The startup decided to focus on gig workers because there is a labor gap in ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries, she told TechCrunch.

“Today, the majority of ASEAN’s labor market are low- to middle-skilled, and the majority are not protected with job security, future career paths and financial services such as insurance and savings,” she said. “At the other end of the spectrum, over 70% of employment in ASEAN are from SMEs, who seek to scale without scaling full-time costs, and find it difficult to train and maintain a reliable pool of staff.”

[gallery columns="5" ids="2059174,2059175,2059176,2059177,2059178"]

GoGet wants to bridge the gap by connecting businesses with verified flexible workers, she added. GoGetters are able to switch between different categories of work, which Chia said gives the ability to learn new skills. Companies are provided with management features that include the ability to create a list of GoGetters they want to work with again and tools for recruiting, training and payment.

The Series A will be used to expand GoGet in Malaysia. One of the things many companies whose business models revolve around the gig economy need to grapple with as they scale include workers who are frustrated by uneven work, low pay and the lack of benefits they would receive as full-time employees. In California, for example, this has resulted in a political battle as companies like Uber, DoorDash and Lyft try to roll back legislation that would force them to classify more gig workers as full-time employees.

Chia said GoGet’s “vision is to bring flexible work to the world in a sustainable manner.” Part of this entails giving GoGet’s gig workers access to benefits like on-demand savings and insurance plans that are similar to what full-time employees receive. GoGet’s platform also has career-building features, including online trainings and networking tools, so workers can prepare for jobs that require different skill sets.

While GoGet’s short-term plan is to focus on growth in Malaysia, it eventually plans to enter other ASEAN countries, too.

In a press statement about the investment, Monk’s Hill Ventures co-founder and managing partner Kuo-Yi Lim said, “The nature of work is being redefined as companies and workers seek both flexibility and fit. This trend has been accelerated by the pandemic, as businesses are transforming in response and require more elastic workforce. GoGet provides a community of motivated and well-trained workers, but more importantly, its platform extends the corporate people management systems to ensure quality, compliance and seamless workflow.”

Prosser: Apple to release the iPad Air alongside the new iPhone 12

Apple doesn't want to release the iPad Air before the iPhone.

What you need to know

  • Apple leaker Jon Prosser has new info on the iPad Air release.
  • The leaker says that Apple is holding up the release of the new tablet in order to ship alongside the new iPhone 12.
  • Apple is expected to announce the iPad Air release date at its "Hi, Speed" event tomorrow.

Despite Apple announcing the new iPad Air at its "Time Flies" event in September, the new tablet has still not gone on sale. Apple has continued to say that it will be available to customers in October, but almost two weeks into the month, we are all still waiting to enjoy arguably the best upgrade to the iPad Air line since its original launch.

According to Apple leaker Jon Prosser, the reason for the wait might have more to do with the iPhone 12 than the new iPad Air itself. On Monday night, Prosser posted on Twitter that Apple apparently does not want to release the iPad Air before the iPhone 12 and that they are planning to open preorders and ship the new tablet on the same timeline as its new iPhone 12 lineup.

"It seems like Apple doesn't want the A14 in iPad Air to make it into people's hands before iPhone 12 🧐. Looks like they're going to be doing pre-orders and shipping iPad Air at the same time as iPhone 12..."

In an earlier report, Prosser did confirm that Apple will announce the release date of the new iPad Air at its October iPhone event.

Apple's "Hi, Speed" event is set to kick off at 10:00 AM PT on Tuesday, October 13. The company is expected to announce its new iPhone 12 lineup as well as potential unveilings of its rumored AirPods Studio headphones, AirTags, and HomePod mini. If Prosser is right, Tim Cook and team may also finally announce the release date of its new iPad Air.

Mac shipments more than double worldwide PC growth in Q3 2020

The Mac is growing at "Hi, Speed."

What you need to know

  • The worldwide PC market saw 3.6% year over year growth in Q3 of 2020.
  • The Mac grew at 7.3%, more than doubling the pace of the overall market.
  • Apple did, however, fall behind the overall market growth in the United States.

In a press release on its website, research firm Gartner has reported that the Mac has doubled the growth of the worldwide PC market in the third quarter of 2020.

Mikako Kitagawa, research director at Gartner, says that the quarter has seen the strongest consumer demand in personal computers that Gartner has recorded in the last five years. The director attributes the growth in the market due to consumers and businesses purchasing laptops for personal, school, and work use during the pandemic.

"This quarter had the strongest consumer PC demand that Gartner has seen in five years. The market is no longer being measured in the number of PCs per household; rather, the dynamics have shifted to account for one PC per person. While PC supply chain disruptions tied to the COVID-19 pandemic have been largely resolved, this quarter saw shortages of key components, such as panels, as a result of this high consumer demand. The business PC market had a more cautious dynamic this quarter. Businesses have continued to buy PCs for remote work, but the focus has shifted from urgent device procurement towards cost optimization. However, enterprise spending remained strong where government funding for distance learning and remote work has fueled device purchases, such as in the U.S. and Japan."

Gartner noted that both Apple, Acer, and Asus all saw growth that outpaced the rest of the PC market. Apple specifically saw a 7.3% growth year over year, more than doubling the market's growth of 3.6%.

The top three vendors in the traditional PC market remained unchanged from the previous quarter, although Lenovo widened its lead over HP after a quarter of record shipment volume. Consumer-oriented vendors such as Apple, Acer and Asus saw growth that outpaced the rest of the market in the third quarter of 2020.

The PC market in the United States also saw an overall growth of 11.4% year over year. Apple, despite doubling worldwide growth, fell behind the rest of the market with a 7% growth year over year. Kitagawa attributes the growth in the country to the major shift in both consumer and business spending from desktop to laptop PCs.

"Mobile PC demand in the U.S. market surged as the shift from desktop to mobile PCs became a common practice across public and private businesses, even with many companies partially bringing their workers back to the office. PC demands in the U.S. were also backed by the gradual economic recovery throughout the quarter, including a rebound in employment and an improved consumer confidence index."

Apple is set to announce its first Apple Silicon Mac by the end of this year, with an event to announce the new laptop potentially happening in November.

Animal Crossing Edition Nintendo Switch is back in stock on Amazon!

The Nintendo Switch is hard to find on a regular day with the regular color scheme, but today, the day before Prime Day, the Animal Crossing Edition Nintendo Switch is back in stock on Amazon. If you've been waiting since September to buy this version, don't wait until tomorrow. It may not be available by the time Prime Day starts.

The normal price for the Animal Crossing Edition Nintendo Switch is $299 and it does not come with the game. If it's in stock tomorrow, we may see a small discount, but based on how fast all versions of the Nintendo Switch tend to sell out, the discount may not be worth missing out on getting it at all.

Animal Style

Animal Crossing Edition Nintendo Switch

$299 at Amazon

Tom Nook's favorite look

Hope you've stocked up on bells because this Animal Crossing Edition probably won't last until Prime Day.

The Animal Crossing Edition of Nintendo Switch has a pastel blue and pastel green Joy-con with matching wrist straps. The Switch Dock is white with an adorable illustration of Timmy, Tommy, and Tom Nook on an island.

Though this Switch is decked out for Animal Crossing fans, it does not come with any games. If you haven't already bought it ... well, you're seriously missing out ... but also, you can pick up Animal Crossing New Horizon for $50 on Amazon today. This game hasn't seen a pattern of selling out, so if you can hold off one more day to buy, I recommend waiting until tomorrow to see if there are any Prime Day Nintendo Switch game deals going on. It might be worth it.

If only Nintendo would sell just the blue and green Joy-Cons, I'd be all over those. I just can't bring myself to buy another Nintendo Switch just because I like the different colors.
