Nintendo finally lets you build worlds in Super Mario Maker 2
The new update, out April 22, lets you connect your courses together.
What you need to know
- The biggest addition in this latest update is World Maker mode, which lets you link your courses together on an over world.
- The update also adds the Koopalings and new parts and power-ups.
- The "last major update" will hit Switches on April 22.
Nintendo announced the "last major update" to Super Mario Maker 2 Monday night, and for fans of the game, this'll certainly be major when it hits consoles April 22.
The biggest announcement here is the New World Maker mode, which allows players to connect their courses via a world map. So yes, not only can you build your own course but you can build your own Super Mario Bros. game. You can even put in bonus stages and warp pipes. So if you wanted to your favorite game from start to finish, you theoretically could (without getting the monetary benefits, of course).
In addition, the game add the Koopalings as a potential boss, along with new parts and power-ups, including SMB2 Mushroom (Super Mario Bros. 2 Mushroom because what else could it stand for?), which transforms the characters into their Super Mario Bros. 2 versions. It's not just a skin either — it allows characters to pick up and throw items and enemies. Here's a more comprehensive list, according to the announcement video, which you can watch above.
Power-ups
- SMB2 Mushroom - You can ride enemies and throw them at will, including Chain Chomps.
- Frog suit - This turns you into Frog Mario. It lets you swim through water and run across water.
- Power Balloon - Does what it says on the tin.
- Super Acorn - This turns you into Flying Squirrel Mario.
- Boomerang Flower - Take out enemies in one throw with a boomerang.
- Cannon Box - Shoot cannon balls with your face
- Propeller Box- Allows you to float three times higher than normal.
- Red Pow Box - Unleash a pow. It's good for three uses.
- Goomba Mask- Become a goomba and fool your enemies.
- Bullet Bill Mask - Gives you the power of horizontal flight for a short period of time.
New parts
- Cursed key - Activates a phantom that can chase your enemies.
- On/off trapoline - Does what is advertised, although your uses can be a bit more creative than you think.
- Mechakoopa - Allows you to create wind-up automatons with special abilities.

Spotify’s officially trying to solve the podcast discovery problem while also trying to help podcasters reach new audiences. The company announced today that it’s rolling out three human-curated podcast playlists in six countries: the US, Germany, Sweden, the UK, Mexico, and Brazil. The three weekly playlists are called Best Podcasts of the Week, Brain Snacks, and Crime Scene. They’ll each be localized to the countries and will be populated by curators in each location. Spotify hired podcast curators around the world specifically for this feature.

Super Mario Maker 2 adds World Maker mode for building entire games
Nintendo has announced what it describes as the final update to Super Mario Maker 2, and it comes with a huge new feature: a World Maker mode that lets you design a map and string multiple courses together, Super Mario World-style. Each world can contain up to five levels, and eight of the worlds themselves can be combined, meaning you can create your own 40-level Mario game.
The update also includes the addition of several new enemies and power-ups including the frog suit from Super Mario Bros. 3, the power balloon from Super Mario World, and a mushroom that turns characters into their Super Mario Bros. 2 sprites and lets them throw items around.

Apple has posted a new video to teach everyone how to use the trackpad for the new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro (or any other compatible keyboard) with iPadOS.
The company uploaded the video to its Apple Support YouTube channel this evening. The video those who have a trackpad compatible with iPadOS how to navigate through the software, as well as how to customize the settings for their cursor. Apple, of course, shows off its new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro for its training video.
"Connect a compatible trackpad to your iPad and learn more about gestures, navigation, and settings."
The video starts off with the basics, showing you how the cursor will appear when you touch the trackpad, and how the cursor will highlight each app as you move over them.
It also shows that swiping up with three fingers will bring up the app switcher and how swiping on the right and bottom of the screen activates slide over and the dock, respectively.
The video eventually moves on to show the different things you can customize on your trackpad in the Settings app. Users are able to make adjustments to trackpad speed, scrolling, tap to click, and how you prefer to secondary click.
For those who would prefer to learn by reading rather than watching a video, Apple has provided links for how to use a Bluetooth mouse or trackpad with your iPad and how to set up and use Magic Keyboard for iPad.

Nintendo reportedly looks to boost Nintendo Switch production by 10 percent
There are Nintendo Switch shortages right now but Nintendo is looking to solve that problem.
What you need to know
- According to Nikkei, Nintendo is reportedly increasing its production of Nintendo Switch units by around 10%.
- In 2019, Nintendo produced around 20 million Nintendo Switch units.
- Nintendo has been suffering supply chain issues for parts since February.
Since social distancing began to be enforced in countries worldwide, people have naturally spent more time playing and buying games. According to a new report from Nikkei, Nintendo is working to meet the additional demand and solve supply chain issues that have caused shortages since February.
Nikkei has learned that Nintendo intends to increase production by around 10%, up from the 20 million Nintendo Switch units produced in 2019. When asked for comment, Nintendo told Nikkei that "We hope [suppliers] will be responsive to the production increase, but for procurement of some parts, the outlook remains uncertain, and we can't forecast exactly how many Switches can be supplied."
With Animal Crossing: New Horizons seeing incredible sales, it'll be interesting to see how Nintendo works to get the Nintendo Switch supply chain back on track, especially with social distancing still enforced and slowing down production in countries like Malaysia and the Philippines.

Landorus will be sticking around an extra week in Pokémon Go

- Landorus, originally scheduled to leave raids tomorrow, will be around for an additional week.
- Trainers will have until April 28, 2020 at 1 PM PST to encounter Landorus in Legendary Raids.
- In addition, the next one PokéCoin bundle has arrived.
Niantic took to Twitter today to announce that the current Legendary Raid boss, Landorus will be sticking around a bit longer. Originally scheduled to leave raids tomorrow, Landorus, also known as the Abundance Pokémon and the Guardian of the Fields, is a Legendary Pokémon originally found in the Gen V Unova Region. It is the master of the Forces of Nature Trio, which also includes Tornadus and Thundurus, having put a stop to their destructive ways and replacing their storms with bountiful crops all throughout the region. Landorus is a Ground and Flying type with two different formes, although only its Incarnate forme is available in Pokémon Go right now. Trainers will have one more week to capture this Legendary Pokémon, whose time in Legendary encounters will end on April 28, 2020 at 1 PM PST.
In addition to extending Landorus' time in raids, the next one PokéCoin bundle has also arrived. For the next week, players will be able to purchase 50 Great Balls from the PokéShop for just one PokéCoin. Hopefully this extra week and generous supply of Great Balls will be enough to Trainers to capture plenty of the Abundance Pokémon!
