What's new on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Hulu in July 2019

Stranger Things Season 3 lands on Netflix on July 4.

Veronica Mars, Stranger Things, Orange Is The New Black, Workin' Moms — and a whole lot more are headed your way on your favorite streaming service in July.

July could be the month where your summer really gets underway. Pools. Beach trips. Barbecues. All that vacation stuff normal folks do. Or you could park yourself in front of the TV for the better part of the month and still not make it through all the awesome stuff there is to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Hulu.

Let's take but a brief look:

  • Hulu (you can get a free trial here) sees the return of Veronica Mars with a whole new fourth season on July 26. And Seasons 1-3 will be streaming in their entirety at the first of the month.
  • Netflix (sign up here) is loaded in July. From Stranger Things Season 3 to Season 2 of Workin' Moms to Season 7 of Orange Is The New Black to Season 4 of Queer Eye to new stand-up specials from Whitney Cummings and Katherine Ryan to a documentary on tacos — and that's before we get into the movies.
  • Amazon Prime Video — get some! — has the return of its Kung Fu Panda series and the first season of the superhero series The Boys.

So, yeah. You've got to decide if you're going to beat back the sun, or binge all that the Streaming Video Gods have bestowed on us this July.

Choose wisely.

UK to indefinitely delay age-verification system for online porn

The United Kingdom will likely delay its controversial age-verification system for online pornography ‘indefinitely,’ according to a report from Sky News. Citing multiple sources, Sky News says Jeremy Wright, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport secretary overseeing the UK’s regulation of the internet, will announce the delay tomorrow in British Parliament. The ban was slated to go into effect by July 15th, after numerous delays over the course of the last year or so. According to The Guardian, a government spokesperson “did not deny” that the system has been effectively shelved when reached for comment.

The age-verification system, which is also sometimes referred to as the UK porn block, was designed as a way to prevent...

Apple expands testing of Apple Card to its retail employees

Heads up! We share savvy shopping and personal finance tips to put extra cash in your wallet. iMore may receive a commission from The Points Guy Affiliate Network.

Apple Card has now become available to all of Apple's employees working at their retail locations. This marks the first time the card has seen internal availability outside of Apple's own headquarters, and a big step in the direction of its imminent release. According to a new report by Bloomberg, retail employees were notified by an internal email inviting them to apply for the new credit card.

Expanding its beta testing of Apple Card to its tens of thousands of retail employees gives Apple and Goldman Sachs, the issuer of the card, the opportunity to work out any issues in the entire customer experience journey, from applying for the card to using all of the software features it comes with. Apparently, all of those are available to employees, from earning rewards every day with Daily Cash, managing the card in the Wallet app, and receiving support through iMessage.

Those that applied and were approved had immediate access to the digital version of Apple Card that lives in the Wallet app, while the physical card is supposedly taking two to three weeks to get to new cardholders. However, the employees do need iOS 12.4 or iOS 13 installed on their iPhone, as those are currently the only versions of iOS that Apple Card can work on and are still not publicly available. iOS 12.4 still does not have a set release date, but it is currently in its 3rd beta version with developers and Apple Card is supposed to release this summer, so we can expect it and the card within the next few months.

If you want to be one of the first to apply for Apple Card when it becomes available to the public, make to sure sign up to get notified of its release.
