This Giant Vacuum Sucks Prairie Dogs Right Out of Their Holes

For years, prairie dogs have been the bane of cattle ranchers, whose livestock are routinely injured when stepping in prairie dog holes. In response, ranchers have gassed, poisoned, drowned, or buried entire colonies alive. The best Christmas gift for fans of the best classic video game console

The nerd corner of my elementary school playground was divided into two distinct groups: the large group of Super Nintendo fans and the small gaggle of Sega Genesis junkies. While other kids dueled on the basketball court or the kickball field, we verbally sparred over the capabilities of “Mode 7” and “blast processing,” despite having no real clue what those words meant.

I fell squarely in the Sega Genesis camp, despite having been raised with an NES. SEGA embodied the faux-dangerous...

Drivers Ed 2.0: inside the fight to modernize training on and off the road

Georgia native Luke Pye was 18 years old, driving with his high school girlfriend on the highway when a van cut him off. He reacted by turning his wheel toward the guardrail, avoiding the surrounding cars and oncoming traffic.

The situation could have played out in many different ways that afternoon. The couple could’ve been among the more than 41,000 people to lose their lives to car crashes in the US that year in 2007. Instead, they walked away with only a couple of bruises. Today,...

Apple reportedly planning to open its first Brooklyn store location

Apple has reportedly signed a lease for a new retail store location in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. If true, it will be the first store Apple will operate in that section of the metropolis and the seventh overall in New York City.

According to the New York Post, Apple's new store location will be a 20,000 square foot area at 247 Bedford Avenue, in the now trendy Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. It added that the two-story brick building itself is in the middle of a revamp that will include "dramatic, arched windows" when it is completed in April 2015. Apple has not commented on the report and there's no word on when they will open the Brooklyn store location.
