Best hotel apps for iPhone: Hotel Tonight, Airbnb, Jetsetter, and more!

The best hotel and rental apps for iPhone to help you snag the best reservation, booking, and all around deal on your next getaway!

Looking for the best iPhone apps for finding great hotels and booking the best reservations? The iPhone can make finding, booking, and paying for a hotel room or rental property simple, but that doesn't mean all booking and reservation apps are created equal. Whether you're traveling for business or looking for a rental property on the beach for a family vacation, the App Store has a lot to offer. But which hotel apps are the very best?

Hotel Tonight

Hotel Tonight is a great app for times when you're in a pinch and need to book a hotel room for that particular night. It takes advantage of hotels that are trying to book rooms so they aren't vacant. This is typically when hotels offer greater discounts since they'd rather fill them then let them sit empty and make nothing. Hotel Tonight is also picky about what hotels they advertise for, which means you shouldn't be disappointed in the hotel you book. Hotel Tonight supports booking for up to 5 nights.

If you're a procrastinator and need a room right now, Hotel Tonight offers some of the best deals for last minute shoppers.

Airbnb

Airbnb isn't a hotel booking app but focuses on rental properties owned by individuals instead. People from around the world put their apartments and rental properties on Airbnb and real people like you and I can book them and leave reviews. Airbnb also verifies a lot of their listings for authenticity so you know the pictures you're seeing aren't photoshopped or edited. You can then leave reviews on properties as well as contact the owners directly with any questions you may have.

If you're planning a getaway and prefer something more cozy and functional than a hotel room, be sure to check out Airbnb.

Jetsetter

Jetsetter, like Hotel Tonight, also specializes in last minute deals. For most cities you won't see deals for tonight until after 1pm local time. Jetsetter makes hotels even more affordable by not telling you the actual hotel until you book it, just the general area. Since Jetsetter verifies all of the hotels and properties they partner with, you can rest assured you're getting a decent hotel. You'll just have to take a gamble on which hotel you're getting that night.

If you're willing to task a risk to save some cash, Jetsetter is where it's at.

Hotel Reservations by Booking.com

Hotel Reservations by Booking.com is a more traditional hotel booking app that lets you pick your specific hotel. That doesn't mean there aren't deals to be had though. Hotel Reservations can also tell you how many people have recently viewed a property and how busy hotels are in a specific city is for your chosen nights. You can also watch for secret, late, and value deals to get even more money off your stay.

If you want a more conservative way to find a place to stay, Hotel Reservations by Booking.com is one of the best.

Hipmunk

Hipmunk lets you search for both flights and hotels. For hotels Hipmunk provides a more traditional experience but also integrates TripAdvisor reviews so you have two different rating systems in one place. I prefer using Hipmunk over the actual TripAdvisor app since it pulls in the best parts of the service, but leaves the cluttered interface behind.

If you value TripAdvisor reviews but don't like their official app, you want Hipmunk.

Dwellable

Dwellable is simliar to Airbnb and focuses on rental properties owned by individuals rather than commercially owned hotels. You may find some smaller condo complexes that rent but for the most part, you're getting actual homes or condos, not a standard hotel room. Dwellable isn't available in all areas but where it is, you'll be hard pressed not to find something that suits both your taste and your budget.

If you want to book a house or a condo instead of a single hotel room and can't find anything on Airbnb, give Dwellable a try.
